Around 2700 Cruise Passengers Stranded In Barcelona

Around 2700 Passengers who were supposed to be enjoying a cruise with Norwegian were left stranded in Barcelona on July 1st following an Engine breakdown which forced the ship to be taken out of service to be repaired.

According to Sources from the Port of Barcelona mentioned in a report on the El Mundo website the ship arrived in Barcelona on Tuesday morning and was expected to leave the same day.

The company has released a statement explaining that because of technical problems that began on July 1st the cruise which was supposed   to last 13 days covering both Northern Europe and the Mediterranean would end today in Barcelona rather than continue to the Italian port of Civitavecchia

Passengers have been offered compensation by the company which includes 50% refund of the amount paid and a 50% discount on the fare of a similar valued Cruise

It is also reported in the press that the company offered passengers a chance to stay in Barcelona on the ship until today, travel to Rome to link from there with their countries of origin, as planned, or fly from Barcelona to their Destinations
